Our Community Hosts suggest personalised matches with up to three like-minded members, helped by our ‘Friendship Finder’ tech. They assist with introductions.

🎶 Interest Groups 🎶
We assign you to groups such as ‘Music’ or ‘Nature’ with up to 15 like-minded members based on your profile. You decide on activities with support from Community Hosts.

🗓️ Events 🗓️
You connect with fellow members through our hosted online or in-person gatherings. You can enjoy the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

How we got started

Catherine McClen, our Founder, has spent over nine years creating friendships since starting social enterprise, BuddyHub, because she was passionate about bringing people together. Backed by science, BuddyHub was created on the fundamental belief that friendship and connection changes lives.

It’s joyful to connect people who wouldn’t typically meet to build life-long friendships. People of all ages are getting involved, finding new friends and building connections in our wonderful community. BuddyHub exists to help you find your people and your purpose.

Why do our friendships change?

Life is full of transitions that can affect your social circle. It could be moving to a new city, going through a breakup, starting a new job, dealing with bereavement, or transitioning into retirement.

Perhaps you see old friends less regularly as they live too far away or have become busy parents. These shifts can create a desire for new relationships. Challenges related to mental health may gradually reduce your social circle prompting the need to rebuild connections when you’re in a better place.

That’s where BuddyHub comes in. Our mission is to assist people to navigate these changes by helping them rebuild and broaden their friendship circles. We believe in the power of kindness and purpose to make this journey easier for everyone.

We’re proud they include Professor Robin Dunbar Emeritus Professor of Evolutionary Psychology at Oxford University known for books such as ‘How Many Friends Does One Person Need’ and ‘Friends’ which examine the science of friendships and their impact on happiness and health. These explore the evolutionary, psychological, and behavioural aspects, including different types of friends and how these relationships change over our lifetime.
